Another day, another movie review! This movie’s plot was based on a true event that happened in Uruguay. This movie named Silent House was a remake of another movie called La Casa Muda. Just like Alfred Hitchcock’ Rope, this movie was shot on one continuous shot. Which means there is no cut or a retake. Cinematography, it was great because it is not easy to make a horror movie in a single continuous shot, the precise moves by the actors and camera crew were beautifully choreograph. Kudos to the production.

The movie was slow, the plot was dragging its foot as if it was trying to fill in the void from lacking of script? The suspense build up was good, there was few moment where we would shut eyes in fear but due to the slowness, the tense that was build earlier just disappear. In other word, we were left hanging.

This movie evolve around the main character played by Elizabeth Olsen; she was great. Her emotion were somehow on point but it was excessive. Its too much that after few seconds of getting her emotions slap on our face, we have indeed lost interest to feel sorry for her especially after her dad was hit by a blunt weapon.

The real scary part was the time in the attic where the main character had to use a polaroid camera as source for light. During the flashes we get glimpsed of a man running toward the main character. If weren’t for the plot dragging this movie would have been on somewhere paranormal activity level.

Overall in between the skeleton key and the conjuring this movie is on blair witch project. Talk talk scare talk talk a little bit scare finish.
