Local Media: Contoh media dedak The Star

Memang typical of Malaysian mainstream media yang most probably already fed with dedak from the government to do a piece of story just to point out or to slam an opposition state without a strong fact. Kelakar sial. Kesian aku tengok. Bila dah terdesak nak cari salah orang then tak jumpa, next best thing lets create one!

This is the statement from Penang chiefs minister

Tiada sesiapa meninggal dunia akibat banjir di P. Pinang, The Star diminta tarik balik laporan muka depan – KM

AKHBAR berbahasa Inggeris, The Star, diminta supaya memohon maaf dan menarik balik laporan muka hadapan akhbar berkenaan hari ini yang memberi gambaran salah kepada pembaca.

Ketua Menteri, Y.A.B. Tuan Lim Guan Eng dalam sidang tengah hari tadi berkata, laporan muka hadapan yang bertajuk ‘Under Water’ sebagai dipetik ‘Floods have claimed two victims in Penang and Kedah..’ memberi gambaran yang salah

Then the star reply with an article “For the record”

Kesian aku tengok si pemakan dedak ni. Sometimes aku rasa diorang ni bukanlah nak sangat buat cerita cerita bodo tapi dedak lagi sedap gaknya sampai ethic dibuang.

Article For the record

THE front page of The Star on Nov 21 was a wrap on the flood situation in several states in the country and the photograph used was a scene in Gerik, Perak, and not Penang.

The photo was related to a story on Page 4 “Gerik hit by worst floods in 20 years, say residents”.  Some confusion may have arisen as there was no caption to identify the scene and the omission is regretted.

The two flood-related deaths in Penang and Kedah mentioned on the front page included that of a 42-year-old man who slipped into Sungai Prai (in Butterworth) because the river was choppy due to flooding in upstream areas after heavy rains.
